Going Wherever the Spirit Leads
until the whole world hears
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—
in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8

Faith In Action
wherever the Gospel is needed
Eston College’s World Action Teams (WAT) program is an opportunity for students to engage in a short period of concentrated service, learning, and national or international education. WAT trips usually go to underdeveloped nations, but can take many forms, depending on the year.
The educational philosophy behind this program is rooted in active and experiential modes of learning. While classroom learning will prepare you for the analytical portion of the process, experiencing a WAT trip helps align certain theoretical issues with practical living. “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” (James 1:22)

Learn on the Move
Engage with different cultures
You will have a chance to learn firsthand how different cultures construct worldviews, deal with radically different living standards, solve problems, and celebrate the joys of life. You’ll prepare for your WAT trip by learning cross-cultural sensitivity, gaining knowledge of the host culture, researching relevant current issues such as poverty, AIDS, and socio-political change, doing some limited language training, motivation checks, and team training and preparation. Overall, you’ll witness how the Gospel and Christian living is contextualized into other cultures and situations.
World Action Teams (WAT) are sent out in May. Students who choose to join WAT are supported in financial fundraising and intentionally prepared to take their faith public.
